Embrace – Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA)

Overview

“Embrace” is an initiative created by the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) to support new Muslims and those who have recently reverted to Islam. Understanding the unique challenges faced by these individuals, Embrace aims to provide a nurturing environment that fosters spiritual growth, community integration, and a deep understanding of Islamic teachings. By focusing on education and support, the program helps reverts navigate their new faith and build meaningful connections within the Muslim community.

Meet the Founder

ICNA, established in 1968, was formed by a group of Muslim immigrants and students in North America with a vision to promote Islamic values and community service. While there isn’t a singular founder of the Embrace program, it represents the collective effort of dedicated individuals within ICNA who are passionate about supporting new Muslims. Their shared commitment to guiding reverts through their spiritual journey underscores the program’s foundation.

Objectives

The Embrace program is driven by several key objectives. At its core, it seeks to provide support and guidance to new Muslims, helping them navigate the complexities of their faith. Embrace places a strong emphasis on education, offering comprehensive resources that cover fundamental aspects of Islam.

In addition, the program strives to foster community building, creating bonds among new Muslims and between them and the broader Muslim community. Ultimately, Embrace aims to empower individuals, equipping them with the tools and confidence needed to actively practice their faith and engage in their communities.

Activities

To achieve its objectives, Embrace engages in a variety of activities designed to support new Muslims. One of the program’s cornerstones is its mentorship initiative, which pairs new Muslims with experienced mentors who provide guidance and encouragement throughout their spiritual journeys. Embrace also organizes workshops and classes that delve into key Islamic teachings, including prayer practices and the study of the Quran. Social events are another vital component, offering opportunities for new Muslims to connect with one another and build friendships in a supportive environment. Additionally, Embrace provides access to online resources, including videos and literature, that facilitate learning and personal growth.

Join the Cause

If you’re interested in getting involved with the Embrace initiative, there are several ways to contribute. You can participate in various programs, attending classes and events to deepen your understanding of Islam. For those with experience in the faith, becoming a mentor can be a rewarding way to support new Muslims on their journeys. Raising awareness about the Embrace program within your community is also crucial, as it helps connect more individuals with the resources they need. Lastly, financial contributions can significantly impact the initiative’s reach and the resources it offers.
