  • ICE Agents Detain Over 80 People in DFW Area During North Texas Raids

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 84 people across North Texas on Sunday in a large-scale immigration enforcement operation, the agency announced. The arrests occurred in multiple locations, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Irving, and parts of Collin County, as part of an ongoing federal effort to target undocumented immigrants.

The Houston Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) assisted ICE agents in what was described as “enhanced targeted operations,” while Texas Governor Greg Abbott confirmed that the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is also providing support.

Federal Immigration Crackdown Intensifies

The operation comes as part of a renewed crackdown on illegal immigration under the Trump administration. Shortly after his inauguration, President Donald Trump rescinded a Biden-era policy that restricted immigration arrests in “sensitive locations” such as schools and places of worship. The policy change has led to an uptick in ICE raids across the country.

On Thursday, the White House announced that hundreds of unauthorized immigrants, labeled “illegal immigrant criminals,” were arrested nationwide and deported on a military aircraft. White House “border czar” Tom Homan has emphasized the administration’s commitment to reinstating large-scale immigration enforcement efforts, including workplace raids targeting employers who hire unauthorized workers.

Collateral Arrests and Prioritization of Criminal Cases

Homan has stated that while enforcement efforts prioritize individuals with criminal records, no unauthorized immigrant is exempt from possible arrest. During raids, ICE agents may also detain individuals without prior criminal histories in what are known as “collateral arrests.”

The recent wave of arrests signals a shift toward stricter immigration enforcement policies, marking a significant departure from the previous administration’s approach. As operations continue in Texas and beyond, immigrant communities remain on high alert, bracing for further actions from federal authorities.
