About this event

Let’s come together to support our Muslim community by raising funds for nonprofits that cater to their unique needs! We invite you to the Fundraising for Muslims – Nonprofits Training, organized by the Zakat Foundation of America (ZFA), Zakat Foundation Institute (ZFI), Center of Muslim Philanthropy (CMP), and local partners. This initiative, in collaboration with Indiana University’s Lilly School of Philanthropy and the Muslim Philanthropy Initiative (MPI), will take place in various cities across the United States.

This two-day in-person training offers an incredible opportunity to deepen your understanding of Islamic philanthropy and the importance of giving back. Whether you’re looking to donate, volunteer, or simply learn more about the nonprofits serving Muslims, this event is perfect for you.

During the training, you will explore the cultural and philanthropic practices within the Muslim community, gaining insights into the data surrounding Muslim giving. You’ll learn how to effectively present your nonprofit’s mission to potential donors, identify the best-suited donor markets, and select the right fundraising methods for your organization. Additionally, you’ll discover ways to inspire and empower volunteers to take on leadership roles, and you’ll develop a practical fundraising process that can be implemented even with limited resources.

Participants will receive a comprehensive study guide that is easy to navigate, providing models for future reference. This training also offers valuable networking opportunities with other professionals who face similar challenges, hands-on experience in planning special events, and interactive sessions focused on effective techniques for requesting support. You will have access to empirical data reports on trends in Muslim giving, which can enhance your fundraising strategies.

The training will be led by Dr. Shariq Siddiqui, an Assistant Professor of Philanthropic Studies and Director of the Muslim Philanthropy Initiative at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. With a Ph.D. and M.A. in Philanthropic Studies, as well as a JD from the McKinney School of Law, Dr. Siddiqui brings over 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, dedicating his career to advancing research and practice in Muslim philanthropy. His background includes serving as the Executive Director of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA), a leading organization connecting scholars and practitioners in the field.

The registration fee for this comprehensive training is $950. However, thanks to the generous support of ZFA, scholarships are available, reducing your cost to $350 when you apply for the $600 ZFA scholarship.

Don’t miss this chance to enhance your skills and make a meaningful impact in our community. We look forward to welcoming you!
